What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a fluid that exists in every living organism. It keeps the entire body lubricated and moisturized, with the highest concentrations in the skin and synovial fluid in the joints.
The hyaluronic acid in our joints is a long, complex molecule that forms into a ball shape that withstands compression. As we age, these molecules break down and lose their ability to maintain their ball shape, leading to pain and stiffness. This molecule is part of a group of macromolecules known as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which are an important network of substances that provide structural integrity to cells and joints. Scientific research reveals that HA can hold more water than any other natural substance. Its unparalleled hydrating properties lead to increased smoothness and softening of tissue.
Hyaluronic acid was discovered in 1934. The benefits of joint care became popular worldwide after an ABC News report on “The Village of Longevity.” The report revealed that 101% of the population was over the age of 85 and still had significant joint flexibility. It was discovered that in this Japanese village, north of Tokyo, the residents ate a diet very high in sweet potatoes and vegetables, both of which contribute to the synthesis of HA. High levels of HA were found in their bodies and this was directly linked to their improved joint health.
Why should you use hyaluronic cream?
In joints and cartilage, HA helps maintain fluids that lubricate and provide shock absorption.
Hyaluronic acid cream is also excellent for hydrating the skin. It is non-greasy and absorbs well into and through the layers of the skin. The upper layers of the skin are supported by collagen and elastin. These two substances make up the connective tissue, which is full of hyaluronic acid (HA), water and protein complexes. This area is normally used to transport essential nutrients from the bloodstream to the skin. The elastic properties of HA protect the underlying structures from damage, offering an excellent environment for new cells to grow. HA in the skin also hinders the movement of foreign particles, such as bacteria.
Method of use: Apply to skin morning and evening.
