What is Collagen?

Collagen is the main protein in connective tissue in animals and is the most abundant protein in mammals, constituting 1/4 of all proteins. It is one of the long fibrillar (fibrous) structural proteins, whose functions differ greatly from those of globular (ball-shaped) proteins such as enzymes. It is tough and inextensible with great tensile strength and is a major component of cartilage, tendons and ligaments and a major protein component of bones and teeth. Together with the soft keratin, it provides strength and elasticity to the skin and its degradation with age results in wrinkles. Collagen strengthens blood vessels and has a role in tissue development. It is found in crystalline form in the cornea and lens of the eye. It is used in cosmetic surgery, for example for lip augmentation, although hyaluronic acid is now more often used instead.

Type II collagen is intended for the musculoskeletal system and the strength of joints and cartilage.

It is the basis of articular cartilage and hyaline cartilage, formed from homotrimers of collagen, type II, alpha 1 chains.

It makes up 50% of the total protein in cartilage and 85-90% of the collagen of articular cartilage.

Type II collagen forms fibrils. This fibrillar network of collagen allows cartilage to trap proteoglycan aggregates, as well as provide tensile strength to the tissue.

Composition in a daily dose of 1 tablet: Denatured (active) collagen type II 40mg.

Auxiliary ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose

It does not contain sugar, artificial sweeteners, colorings, flavorings, or preservatives.

Allergen information: Does not contain milk, eggs, nuts, shellfish, fish, soy, gluten, titanium dioxide or GMOs.

Recommended daily intake: Take 1 tablet in the evening before bed on an empty stomach.

Instructions for use: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose! The dietary supplement should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet! If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as in case of more serious illnesses, consult your doctor first! For optimal effect, take for at least 3 months!
